On Mohammedans

From “A New Dictionary of Quotations” by H.L. Mencken:

“One Mohammedan is no Mohammedan; two are half a one; three are one”
- Chinese Proverb

It touches very nicely on the need for Moslems to be in flock. I don’t remember how often we were told that “1.3 Billion Moslems” had been offended. They fail to understand that if their arguments were to have any impact on us, the number of Moslems offended would matter not. Their argument would have to be valid for 1 Moslem as well as 1.3 Billion of them.

Demands for Capital Penalty for Al-Asadi

Pia Causa writes about the demands for the capital penalty for Muhammed Al-Asadi, the brave Yemeni editor who published the Muhammed Cartoons. I’d meant to write about this, but it is just one of those horrible things that makes me go all “fuck them, let’s send in the marines!” - and that isn’t very constructive. I can fully support Pia Causa’s suggestion though:
“CALL ALL PAPERS AND POLITICIANS TO GO AGAINST THIS DEFAMATION OF MANKIND”.
Read more about this in this Newsweek interview with Al-Asadi.
LGF has discussion here.

Clarke criticises Danish ‘mistake’ over cartoons

In a statement to The Guardian today, The British Home Secretary criticises Anders Fogh Rasmussen of not responding to a letter sent by the Ambassadors to protest the Muhammed cartoons:

Clarke criticises Danish ‘mistake’ over cartoons

The British government has accused its Danish counterparts of making “a serious mistake” in the way it handled relations with Muslim countries after the publication of cartoons depicting the prophet Muhammad.

The home secretary, Charles Clarke, criticised the decision by the Danish prime minister, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, to snub a request from 11 Muslim countries for a meeting after the cartoons were published in the Jyllands Posten newspaper in September.

Mr Clarke told a public meeting in Willesden Green - primarily held to discuss law and order issues - that Mr Rasmussen had not even responded to the request.

Admitting it was a “political point”, Mr Clarke said: “I think that was a serious mistake which you could not imagine happening in other countries … certainly not in this country. It is a question of respecting others, and that means do not provoke or challenge the deeply-held views of others.”

This is not true. Click the image below to see the full letter. (more…)
